Are you a vocalist?

So as you may know, back in January Nate and Callis both played their last shows for Housefires and now we’re looking for a new vocalist. So, fancy coming and screaming along to some music? We’re looking for somebody who can pull off Callis’ parts in the songs from the EP whilst being able to do their own thing writing for our next release. Also, if you’ve seen us live you’ll know what a nutcase Callis’ was and we think its vital for the next Housefires front-man (or woman) to have a great stage presence. Here’s what we’re looking for…

- Can you smash the crap out a stage and put on a hectic live show?
- Can you make at least one 3 hour evening band practice in the Southampton/Portsmouth area every week?
- Can you add something to the writing process?

Housefires

A couple of weeks ago Callis’ and Nate played their last show for Housefires. It was a good night and a big thank you to everybody who came down.

Here is our brand new music video for Wilmcote. See also; Housefires circa 2011-1012. The end of something special and the beginning of something new. If you’ve been a part of it in any small way so far we salute you. It’s been good times. Thanks to Marianne Harris for filming our shenanigans at various points over the last year and putting this together, and to Jolene Curran and Mikey Brown for the additional footage. See you with new shit in 2013. FUCK EVERYONE. BREAK EVERYTHING.

Over the last year we’ve accumulated some live footage from various shows. We always planned to do something with it, but when Jimmy left his position as bassist we put it on the burner with the plan of getting some more footage featuring new bassist Tom instead. With the recent news that Nate and Callis are also soon to be leaving the band, we decided to resurrect the idea and get a new video done before the footage is completely irrelevant and outdated. Think of this video as the documentation of the end of an era, and more importantly, the start of a new one.
I’m sad to announce that I (Callis) will no longer be able to commit to my role as the frontman of Housefires. There’s a number of reasons for me making this tough decision, however they are mostly personal so I’d rather not go into them.

There’s no hard feelings, I wish the rest of the lads the best of luck for the future and I will be playing one final farewell show in the new year. As I’ll no longer be a part of the band I can’t comment on what’s happening next in regards to replacing me, but I’m sure there will be some kind of announcement soon.

I’d like to thank everyone and anyone who’s supported the band over the last year and a half, I’ve met some great people and made some good friends inside and outside of the band. I would also add that I apologise for anything I’ve broken or anyone I’ve hurt but that would be a hideous lie!

Thanks again,

Callis. x

Drum Vacancy in Housefires…

So, as you may have heard, Nate is soon to be leaving Housefires. He’s getting married in the coming years and saving for a wedding is priority for him right now. It’s a fair choice and we wish him the best of luck for the future.

So, fancy coming and hitting things in rhythmic time for us? Here’s what we’re looking for…

- Can you play the drums?
- Can you smash the crap out of a drum kit and put on a hectic live show?
- Do you own your own gear?
- Can you drive (Not essential but preferred)?
- Can you make at least one 3 hour evening band practice in the Portsmouth area every week?
- Can you add something to the writing process?
- Are you not a dick?

If you’ve heard our EP than you’ve no doubt heard what a great job Nate did on it. We aren’t asking someone to come in and copy Nate’s drumming style for the rest of eternity, but we don’t want to step too far from what is an essential part of our present (and future) sound. We’re looking for a hard hitting drummer that can really bring something to the band with a style not too dissimilar.

Here’s an interview we did in a disabled toilet with a lovely chap called Jay whilst we were in Middlesbrough…

Sad to announce that Nate will soon be leaving his post as the drummer of Housefires. After a year and a half of keeping time (well sort of) and hitting things (most certainly and rather hard) he is unable to commit to a band financially any longer.

We’d like to thank Nate for his hard work, commitment and generally just being a dude. He will still be playing all upcoming shows booked and we’ll be having some kind of hometown send off for his last gig with us in the coming months too.

This also means we’ll be looking for a new drummer fairly soonish. Tough shoes to fill, but if you think you may be up to the task then please keep an eye out for full details next week.

Less than two weeks until our November tour kicks off. We have laminates so we can pretend we’re a big deal whilst we sit in pub beer gardens poor and hungry. Thanks to Hectic Designs for hooking us up.
